The webinar will take the form of a three-way conversation between Bilal Kathrada and his guests looking at the many facets of entrepreneurship, in particular for young people, and particularly around opportunities in technology.
Iman Faith Malaka calls herself a Muslimah, mother, foodie and traveller with a focus of building a legacy for Africa through technology. She is CEO of www.tic-it.co.za and a co-founder member and majority shareholder of TIC-IT Telecoms. Iman has over 15 years’ experience in the telecoms sector. She has held various roles in organisations such as MTN, Accenture and Vodacom amongst others. Her extensive skills set include areas such as Business Intelligence (BI), Business Analysis, Business Process Management, Customer Value Management (CVM), Billing Assurance, Mobile Applications and Business Management Consulting. Iman has an affinity for detail and new technologies coupled with a strong passion for developing people around her.
Iman will be joined by Nkosinathi Mahlangu who is Portfolio Head: Youth Employment at Momentum Metropolitan Holdings. He has walked the CSI path for almost 10 years and still has the appetite to learn. Coming from an IT background makes it easier for him to understand how digital skills can help unlock opportunities for the youth of South Africa. Working in the development space has presented him with the opportunity to be part of the solution in bridging the socio-economic development gap in the South African context.
Every month Bilal Kathrada, founder / CEO of IT varsity, carefully selects a guest (in this case two) who will add value particularly to men and women looking at starting a new career or building their skills set. Previously he has hosted trend specialist and author, John Sanei and international voice artist, Tasia Valenza.
Over the past few months, the world has changed in ways we never imagined pre-Lockdown. Increasingly our work, our leisure, our way of connecting with others, our way of doing business, and our ways of sharing info – is all online. Our devices have become our gateway to the world at a time when face-to-face interaction has not been possible.
Durban based IT varsity’s mission is to be South Africa’s premier lab of IT learning and development. They are creating products which respond to the galloping speed of evolution in how we engage with technology. They offer world class time-intensive coding courses that can be completed in one year. The APP Empire course is currently free where candidates will learn how to identify, build and run winning App ideas.
