What is this Course About?

The IT varsity Diploma in Software Engineering is a comprehensive and HIGHLY PRACTICAL software development course that is designed to accelerate the student into an entry level position in Software Engineering.

This qualification is an add-on to the Apptrepreneur qualification (National Certificate in Systems Development), which is a prerequisite to this diploma.

Who Will be My Instructor/Mentor?

Hi there! I am Bilal, and I designed the Diploma in Software Engineering. I’ll also be your online teacher and mentor.

I am a software engineer, as well as an award-winning app developer with many years of experience.

Is the Apptrepreneur course accredited?

Yes. This course is accredited by the QCTO – the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations in South Africa (www.qcto.org.za).

Do I need to have any previous experience with coding?

Not at all. In this course we will assume that you have never written a single line of code in your life. All you need to know is how to use a computer and an internet browser.

What if I don’t have matric?

No matric, no problem! You can still study with us by applying for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Give us a shout to find out how.

Do I need to be good at Maths to be a coder?

Not at all! There is an old myth that you have to be good at maths to be a coder.

Anyone can learn to code, even kids.

Do you offer bursaries?

We do not offer bursaries, but if you need one, we will be happy to submit an application to various funders on your behalf. Please contact us for more info.
