What is this Course About?

Apptrepreneur is an accredited App Development course that is aimed at preparing you to be an exceptional App Developer, Website Designer or Software Developer.

On completion of the course you will receive a National Certificate in Systems Development (SAQA ID:48872, NQF level 5, 131 credits).

What will I Learn?

The qualification is designed to:

  1. Provide qualified learners with an undergraduate entry into the fields of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Computer Sciences, specialising in the Systems Development area
  2. Prepare qualified learners for initial employment into the ICT and related industries. Qualified learners will have a solid understanding of computer industry concepts and to able to work in areas of Systems Development with intermediate technical complexity.
  3. Allow the credits achieved in National Certificates relating to Information Technology at NQF level 4 to be used as prior learning for this qualification, where applicable.
  4. Allow people with workplace experience in the Systems Development areas covered, to request assessments and get recognition for prior learning.
  5. Allow the qualification to be acquired in the traditional way of formal study as well as in the workplace, through Learnerships Schemes or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
  6. Assist with professionalisation across the Information Technology Sector. It is intended to allow qualified learners to gain membership of registered professional bodies in the ICT industry.

By the end of this course you will learn how to:

  2. Understand the role of technology in the business context.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of problem solving techniques, and how to apply them in a systems development environment
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of Systems Development, with all its implications
  5. Relate business problems and information technology solutions
  6. Apply the principles of creating computer software

What is covered in the modules?

In this module you will write your first lines of code and learn the basics of coding apps and websites. You will be introduced to two coding languages: HTML and CSS.

In this module you will learn to develop your first apps. You will start off with a basic app, and progress towards more complete and amazing apps. You will take your HTML and CSS skills much further.

In this module you will learn how develop apps that respond to the size of a devices screen.

Pine City Mall App

In this module you will learn how to make use of colors and designs in a way that works together with your app and looks good.

In this module you will learn how to implement “drag-and-drop” functionality into your apps and websites. You will do this by developing two fun apps that use drag-and-drop.

In this module you will learn how to add basic animations to your websites and apps using nothing more than HMTL and CSS. You will do this by creating an app that provides information about the Solar System.

In this module you will learn how to develop websites using the popular platform, WordPress.

How Do the Assessments Work?

The assessment process covers

  1. Measure the quality of the observed practical performance as well as the theory and underpinning knowledge behind it;
  2. Use methods that are varied to allow the learner to display thinking and decision making in the demonstration of practical performance;
  3. Maintain a balance between practical performance and theoretical assessment methods to ensure each is measured in accordance with the level of the qualification; and
  4. Ensure that the relationship between practical and theoretical is not fixed but varies according to the outcomes being assessed.

Who Will be My Instructor/Mentor?

Hi there! We are Maseeh and Bilal, and we designed the Apptrepreneur course. We’ll also be your online teachers and mentors.

Not at all. In this course we will assume that you have never written a single line of code in your life. All you need to know is how to use a computer and an internet browser.
